Research on optimising the growing technologies of certain horticultural species

The doctoral thesis addresses the optimisation of the growing technology for Stevia rebaudiana by identifying a biotype of value for the production of green matter and viable seed, adapted to the soil and climate conditions of Buzau. The research was carried out at the Vegetable Research and Development Station Buzau and included the development of efficient propagation methods (seed, cuttings), the optimisation of growing media and the use of LED lighting. Biometric, biochemical and environmental measurements were carried out, and analysis of the genomic DNA provided relevant data on genetic variability. The work is structured in two parts: the literature review and the author’s own research, making a significant contribution to the registration of the „Daria” variety and its introduction into cultivation.
