At the invitation of our colleagues from ICCF, we met at the Metropolitan Library
, in a warm and open atmosphere, and talked about women in Romanian science who have left a lasting mark
:
Ana Aslan – the founder of modern gerontology in Romania ![]()
![]()
Elisa Leonida Zamfirescu – one of the first women engineers in the world ![]()
![]()
![]()
Sofia Ionescu-Ogrezeanu – recognised as the first female neurosurgeon in the world ![]()
![]()
We also recalled the story of Weinsberg Castle in Germany, where, according to tradition, the women managed to save their community through intelligence and solidarity, a lesson that is still relevant today
.
Today we are also talking more and more about concrete tools for fairness
, such as the ISO 53800:2025 standard, which gives organisations clear benchmarks for promoting gender equality
.
At VRDS Buzau, women work day after day in research
, in the laboratory
, in the field ![]()
, on projects
and as part of the team
. And we are glad that we can mark this day together.
