The principal mission of this laboratory is to safeguard plant health at all times, keeping crops sound in the face of the often unpredictable attacks of pests and diseases.
Research topics:
- Control of diseases, pests and weeds in vegetable and flower crops through integrated plant protection methods;
- Development and optimisation of an integrated plant protection management system combining preventive measures, the rational use of pesticides and biological control methods, in keeping with the specific technology of each crop;
- Study of the response of certain vegetable varieties (e.g. beans) to attack by various pest species and to physical seed treatments;
- Research in floriculture, focused on the breeding of the ornamental species held in the laboratory's collection and on the development of new varieties adapted to local conditions.
