ADER 6.3.20 Round Table: Research and Practice Face to Face in Vegetable Growing

🍅 As part of the ADER 6.3.20/27.07.2023 project, researchers, vegetable growers and specialists came together at a round table hosted by Colecționarul de Arome (The Aroma Collector) to discuss modern tomato growing technologies and the current challenges facing vegetable production.

🎤 The project director, Dr Eng. Emilian Mirea, presented the main results achieved so far, highlighting solutions for improving cultivation technologies in protected environments.

🌱 The discussions continued out in the polytunnels and the vegetable garden, where we looked at the technologies being applied in practice and exchanged experiences with growers and researchers, and finally we tasted tomatoes from our host’s collection.

🤝 Together with our partners from VRDS Bacau and ICDLF Vidra, as well as representatives of Semințe cu Suflet, Eco Ruralis and many vegetable growers, we confirmed once again how important the dialogue between research and practice is for transferring results to farmers.

❤️We went home with plenty of ideas, as well as real admiration for The Aroma Collector’s remarkable vegetable collection. For us, as plant breeders, it was a delight to discover such diversity and such passion for preserving our vegetable heritage.

🙏 Many thanks to our hosts and to all the participants for a day devoted to collaboration, sharing experience and Romanian vegetable growing! 🍅
