Vegetable Research and Development Station Buzau – Research, innovation, and passion for Romanian vegetable cultivation!

From research to production: VRDS Buzau varieties put to use by local growers

🍅 A concrete example of technology transfer and of research results being put to use is local growers cultivating tomato varieties developed at the Vegetable Research and Development Station Buzau.

At the „Roadele Toamnei” (Autumn Harvest) fair, held on 11 October 2026 in Lumina, Constanța county, the Mirea family, who grow tomato varieties developed at VRDS Buzau, took part with products from their own harvest.

This initiative shows how the results of research and breeding work reach practice, helping to diversify production, make the most of Romanian varieties and support local growers.

At VRDS Buzau, we want our research results to go beyond the boundaries of our experimental fields and turn into real opportunities for growers and local communities.

👏 Congratulations to the Mirea family for their initiative and for promoting Romanian varieties! We also appreciate the organisation of events like this one, which support local producers and encourage the use of home-grown products.
