Everybody who is anybody is talking about… tomatoes! And we are right there.
These days the EUCARPIA Meeting Tomato Working Group is taking place, the event where the world’s leading researchers gather to answer the hard questions:
What happens to tomatoes when drought sets in?
And when the soil is too salty? Or completely flooded?
Do they grow different roots? Do they “remember” the stress? Can we help them?
And we, the researchers at VRDS Buzau, are proud to be there and to contribute our own experience.
We have just announced it on our page: we have officially started a new tomato breeding programme!
We are testing, selecting, hybridising and developing new varieties to cope with climate change – exactly what is being discussed at international level right now.
We are part of a global network, but with deep roots in Romania.
