
Description
- A semi-perennial plant (3-5 years) with multiple uses: as a culinary herb and aromatic, food, medicinal and melliferous plant.
- The flowers are strongly scented and bloom over a long period, from June until the first frosts.
- It is a melliferous plant, yielding more than 600 kg of honey per hectare.
- The plant grows to a height of 120-180 cm. Yields are 18-22 t of shoots per hectare.
- The plant has no particular technological requirements and is not demanding as regards soil, so it can be grown throughout Romania.
- In addition to its important role in beekeeping, Lophanthus anisatus has a great many uses. Lophanthus tea has sedative and calming effects. It is recommended for the treatment of headaches, insomnia and depression. When applied externally, it has a beneficial effect on the skin and speeds up the healing of burns and minor wounds.
