Innovative technologies for reducing the negative impact of climate change in vegetable crops

The Complex Project sets out to develop innovative technologies for reducing the negative impact of climate change on a number of vegetable crops grown in the open field (pepper, bean, onion). To this end, an interdisciplinary consortium was formed, comprising: the Vegetable Research and Development Station Buzau – VRDS Buzau (CO), the National Institute for Research and Development for Machinery and Installations for Agriculture – INMA (P1), the National Research and Development Institute for Textiles and Leather – INCDTP (P2), the National Research and Development Institute for Environmental Protection – INCDPM (P3), the National Research and Development Institute for Plant Protection – INCDPP (P4), the Research and Development Institute for the Processing and Marketing of Horticultural Products – HORTING (P5) and the Vegetable Research and Development Station Bacău – VRDS Bacău (P6).

The composition of the consortium was designed to foster collaboration between the research teams through 4 interdisciplinary projects: Project 1 (VRDS Buzau) – Scientific basis for the maintenance and protection technologies for vegetable crops in the context of current climate change – LEGSTITEH; Project 2 (INCDTP Bucharest) – Technology for protecting vegetable crops against extreme weather events through the use of interactive, modulated systems – TEX4VEG; Project 3 (INMA Bucharest) – Technology for the ecological control of weeds in vegetable crops – COMBECO; Project 4 (INCDPP Bucharest) – Eco-sustainable technology for preventing and reducing the aggressiveness of diseases and pests in vegetable crops – ECOLEG.

The complex project meets the requirements for achieving efficient agriculture leading to the development of rural areas in accordance with field 1. Bioeconomy, smart specialisation sub-domain 1.1.5. Sustainable development of field crop production adapted to the impact of global climate change.
