Description
- An annual plant recommended for open-field cultivation.
- The fruits are green, ridged capsules 10-30 cm long with 5-6 locules, containing soluble fibre which gives dishes a mucilaginous consistency.
- The fruits are harvested at particular sizes according to their intended use: 1.5-4 cm for preserving in brine, 1.5-7 cm for various dishes and 4-7 cm for fresh consumption.
- The quantity of seed required to establish one hectare of crop is 12-14 kg, and the yield is 6-8 t/ha.
