- Implementation period: 2011-2014
Project objectives
Increasing the economic competitiveness of subsistence vegetable farms growing crops in polytunnels, through the use of specific intervention methods and techniques.
Expected results
-
Development of a new type of polytunnel, adapted to the agroclimatic conditions specific to the Buzau region. It is characterised by:
An aerodynamic profile designed according to wind intensity and to the maximum snow load specific to the area (90 kg/m²);
An optimised NE–SW orientation, with the long axis exposed so as to maximise solar radiation;
A height for the protected structure (3.4 m) determined according to the requirements of the species grown and to air circulation;
A bay width matched to the ridge height and to the potential snow and crop load (e.g. 15 kg/m² for suspended crops);
Improved ventilation compared with the tunnel-type polytunnel developed by the Vegetable Research and Development Station Buzau, contributing to a more stable microclimate for the plants. - Determination of the spectrum of pathogens present in the tunnel-type polytunnels developed by the Vegetable Research and Development Station Buzau, under polyethylene film protection;
- Analysis of the behaviour of vegetable species (tomato, cucumber, pepper) under these conditions, with an emphasis on resistance, vegetative development and physiological response to biotic stress.
