- Implementation period: 2023-2026
Project objectives
- The project aims to secure the required quantities of seed of higher biological categories (PB, B) from established cultivars, within their own limits of variability (ensuring identity, uniformity and stability), with a view to obtaining seed of the "Certified" category; and to assess yield levels and seed quality parameters against a background of optimal plant nutrition, planting distance and number of fruits per plant, in order to underpin solutions aimed at improving seed quality and the technology used to produce it.
Results
- Obtaining the elite plants required for introduction into selection and for producing basic seed material from new cultivars entered in the Official Catalogue;
- Obtaining seed of higher biological categories (CA, CSD, PB and B) (from the partners' established cultivars, as requested by vegetable growers) within their own limits of variability (ensuring identity, uniformity and stability), with a view to obtaining seed of the "Certified" category with the highest quality indices;
- Improving seed production technology by underpinning solutions aimed at raising seed quality indices as well as the yield of usable seed above the value laid down in the legislation in force.
