- Implementation period: 2023-2026
Project objectives
- General objective: Improving the quality of field crops, in line with market and consumer requirements, for greater competitiveness on the domestic and international markets.
- Specific objective: Crop management and plant protection systems designed to minimise the accumulation of toxic or potentially harmful compounds and to favour the accumulation of components with beneficial effects on human health.
Results
- Experimental models of plasma technologies (non-thermal plasmas at atmospheric pressure, plasma-activated water, dielectric barrier discharges) applicable to the control of the major pests of stored cereals: grain weevil (Sitophilus granaries), rice weevil (S. oryzae), saw-toothed grain beetle (Oryzaephilus surinamensis), flour beetles (Tribolium confusum, T, castaneum), Angoumois grain moth (Sitrotoga cerealella), of fruit - the dried-fruit moth (Plodia interpunctella) and of pulses - the bean weevil (Acanthoscelides obsoletus);
- Experimental models of plasma technologies applicable to the control of the mycotoxigenic fungi (Aspergillus spp., Fusarium spp.) that contaminate cereals during storage;
- Laboratory and field studies evaluating the effect of the plasma treatments applied to control storage diseases and pests on the seeds and plants of wheat, maize and beans.
