- Implementation period: 2015-2018
Project objectives
- Selection of the biological material – choosing the genotypes or varieties of interest for the study, on the basis of morphological, physiological or productivity characteristics;
- Setting up the experimental model in the field – laying out and organising the experimental plots under field conditions, in accordance with the specific methodological requirements, in order to test the variables of interest;
- Biometric observations and measurements – collecting data on plant growth and development parameters (height, number of leaves, bulb diameter, etc.) in order to assess the performance of the selected genotypes;
- Testing of integrated crop protection techniques for bulb crops – applying and monitoring the effectiveness of plant protection methods with a low environmental impact, with a view to controlling the pests and diseases specific to bulb crops.
Expected results
- Selection and production of biological material in bulb crops (onion) and root crops (parsnip, radish), and the conditioning, grading and storage of the seed and the mother plants;
- Registration of a parsnip variety (Daniel);
- Supply of seed of higher biological categories (pre-basic and basic) of the new varieties, in line with national demand.
