Project objectives
- Achieving efficient, environmentally sound agriculture and the sustainable development of rural areas and of the relevant scientific and technological fields.
Results
- Production and delivery of significant quantities of untreated seed for organic farms, for the following species and varieties: sweet pepper (Arum, Galben Superior), hot pepper (Jovial), gogoșar pepper (Splendens), long pepper (Cosmin), cucumbers (Slănic), aubergine (Zaraza), watermelon (Dochița), white onion by direct sowing (De Buzau), autumn cabbage (De Buzau, Buzoiana), spinach (Românesc), courgette (Hapy), carrot (Nabuco), summer–autumn radish (Iulia), basil (Aromat de Buzau), lettuce (Gratia);
- Organic certification of 2 ha of the experimental field of the Vegetable Research and Development Station Buzau;
- Testing of the performance of varieties from the Station's portfolio under an organic growing system, for the following species: tomatoes, peppers, beans, summer savory, basil and marigolds;
- Working visits and field discussion sessions on the demonstration plots and the technologies applied in organic cultivation;
- Organisation of exhibitions of the vegetable varieties grown organically, as a means of promotion and information for farmers.
- Five scientific papers presenting the results of applied research under an organic system were delivered at the „Open Days for Vegetable Growers” event.
